WCHS fosters a learning community in which classrooms are dynamic environments characterized by student involvement, thoughtful reflection, rigorous assessment, imagination, problem solving, and students and teachers working as a team to meet goals. Among the many rigorous classes offered to prepare to students for success are Latin, Advanced Placement (AP) English Language, AP U.S. History, AP Calculus AB, AP Studio Art, AP Art History, and much more. |
Students
at the WCHS receive considerably more instruction than those at traditional
public schools. In fact, WCHS students receive 1 more hour of instruction
in each of the four core subjects weekly, for a total of 4 more hours
of Math, Science, English, and History per week. While schools across
the nation are reducing or even eliminating subjects other than Math
and English in order to meet testing requirements for No Child Left
Behind, WCHS maintains impressive scores in Math and English without
foregoing "extras" such as History, Science, Language,
Physical Education, and the Arts. |

Incoming
students demonstrate a wide spectrum of aptitude; reading abilities
range from fourth grade to college level. WCHS addresses this issue
through individualized instruction and advisement, curriculum planning,
developmental work, targeted remediation, and mandatory parental
involvement in order to prepare students for college.
