| 1. Peer Tutoring/Homework Center |
Need help with your schoolwork or homework? Fellow students are available to help you 4 days a week from 4:30-6:00. If you are an excellent student yourself, you can get PAID to be a tutor. See Mr. Mertens, Ms. Daly, Mr. Frey, or your advisor for more information. |
| 2. Rock Band!! |
Do you play guitar, bass, keyboards, or drums? Or sing? |
| 3. Aspira |
Aspira is a nationally recognized leadership program for Latino/Hispanic youth. See Ms. Medina if interested. Starts in October. |
| 4.Chess |
Are you a fan of this "thinking man's game"? If you love to play chess and have the skills to compete, join the Chess Club. It meets Monday and Tuesday from 4:30-6:00 in room 434. See Mr. Dooher for more information. |
| 5. Environmental Club |
NYC is a dirty place! If litter and trash in your community bothers you as much as it bothers us, join this club and become a voice people will listen to. Mondays from 4:30-6:00 in room 405. See Ms. Grammenos or Ms. Padua. |
| 6. Computer Center |
Beginning soon, Rooms 431 and/or 432 will be open ‘til 6 PM after school every day except Wednesdays with laptops available for your homework or leisure. |
| 7. Soccer |
Our CO-ED soccer team has already started practicing, but it is not too late to join! Our team competes in the Charter School League. Practice is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30-6:00. See Mr. Huntoon or Mr. Sullivan if interested. |
| 8. Cross Country |

| 9. Handball |
Our school is full of kids who say they are “mad good” handball players. Now is your chance to prove it! Practice is Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:00. Co-ed. See Ms. Charkowick if you are interested. |
| 10. Wrestling |
Grrr!!! If you are burly, sweaty, and strong, put those muscles to good
use on the school team. A great way to test your flexibility, speed,
and strategy. Boys only. |
| 11. Knitting |
A great cause! Working as part of a larger organization, participants in this club help to create blankets that are given to foster children. It meets every Tuesday afternoon from 4:30-6:00 in room 405. See Ms. Botia for more details. |
| 12. National Honors Society |
This club is already established, but if you think you have the grades to be in this elite organization and have not yet been inducted, see Mr. Gonzalez right away! |
| 13. “Rumors" |
Rehearsals have already begun for this theatre production, but if you wish to be on the crew or work backstage when the time comes, see Mr. Maddox. |
| 14. Grief and Loss Support Group |
If you are coping with the passing of someone close to you and would like to talk to other students who are going through the same thing, this group can help. Admission to this club is by invitation only. See Ms. Swithers if you are interested. |
| 15. Literary Magazine |
Our school has some amazing young writers, but most of you are hiding your brilliance in your notebook or journal! Share your poems, stories, essays, raps OR illustrations with the school by publishing them in our magazine. Meets Tuesdays from 4:30-6:00 in room 402. See Ms. Burnett, Browne, or Harewood for more details. |
| 16. Ladies Club |
Talk with your “sisters” about issues important to young women today, while getting service credit towards graduation. By invitation only. See Ms. Haynes. |
| 17. O.S.H.N.O. |
The name stands for “Old Students Helping New Ones.” Juniors and Seniors will learn how to be role models to underclassmen. Meets with Ms. Diggs every Wednesday at Lunchtime in room 403. |
| 18. NCCJ |
Do you hate racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of prejudice? Our school’s chapter of the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) carries out the organization’s mission of fighting any and all mistreatment of others based on differences. We meet with Mr. Mertens every Thursday at Lunchtime in room 401. |
| 19. Gentlemen’s Club |
Talk to your “brothers” about issues facing young men today, while doing a variety of interesting community service projects. By invitation only. See Mr. Hirsch. |
| 20. Culinary/Gourmet Club |
An introduction to world cuisines and basic cooking techniques. Prepare and EAT interesting dishes and take trips to restaurants! (yes, for FREE). Meets Thursdays in room 408 from 4:15-5:30. See Mr. Lenti if interested. |

Finally! WCHS will have its first ever yearbook and we want your help with ALL aspects: Photography, artwork, writing, layout, and more. Meetings are every Friday from 4:30 to 6:00 in room 431 or 432 with Mr. Neveaux. |
| 22. Comic Book Club! |
If you are a comic book enthusiast, or an artist you will have a blast in this club! Students will read and discuss the latest comic books, as well as draw and create their own! Meets every Friday from 4:30-6:00 with Ms. Apostoulou in Room 404. See her for more info! |

I.M.U. is a new club that will focus on diversity in identity, present
not only in this school, but in and around the world. Meets with Ms. Daverin
