Marsha Spampinato Principal and Founder

As I reflect back on the past three years, I am amazed by how much we have been able to accomplish. Our staff is outstanding; they are committed to the school and its mission, and work very hard all day, every day to assist, instruct, and inspire our students, and to be there for them in all aspects of their lives. Our students have proven to us and to themselves that when they work hard and focus, they can succeed at everything they attempt. WCHS has a school culture that enables all members of the staff and student body to grow and fulfill their own potential.

There are many ways we can measure the success of our school.  We can look at the impressive academic achievement of the students.  They have been taking and passing Regent exams at an amazingly high rate.  We can look at the types of courses the students are taking; Chemistry, Math B, Latin, and Italian, among other high level "electives."  We can look at the rise of our performing and fine arts programs and be proud that this is a place where our students can discover, hone, and showcase their talent.  But I believe that the best way to measure our success is to look at the community that has been established.  Our students look at one another as family.  They stick up for each other, and they look out for the school.  They are proud to be here and want to remain, even with all of the work and stress that accompanies high school.  I am most grateful for and proud of this incredible sense of community and pride.  As we look forward to our first graduating class and all the "firsts" that accompany it, I feel confident that this spirit and sense of community will only enhance the school and all the individuals who work and learn here. Most importantly, those who graduate and enter the world will be stronger and have more confidence and knowledge thanks to their experiences at the Williamsburg Charter High School.
