WCHS Students Attend Governor Cuomo Tuition Announcement

On January 3, 2017 Governor Cuomo and Senator Sanders announced a plan which would provide free tuition for select students to New York State colleges and universities.

According to the New York Times, "Under the proposal, the state would complete students' tuition payments by supplementing existing state and federal grant programs — essentially covering the balance, though administration officials said some students could have their entire four-year education covered."

The Governor's Office invited Williamsburg Charter High School to attend the special announcement. Early Tuesday morning, 36 students and 3 chaperones were provided transportation to and from LaGuardia Community College. En route, students learned former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders would be speaking and cheered excitedly from their seats.

WCHS Walks for a Cure

On Saturday, September 24th, 2016, students and families of Williamsburg Charter High School participated @ the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer. The event featured a 5 K walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, music and games in the park before the walk took place. The team raised $325 to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital find cures for children battling cancer and never charges families for treatment, and the majority of funding for the hospital comes from contributors.
