Staff Overview

The Williamsburg Charter High School aims to create a school environment that fosters academic excellence and critical thinking while providing a strong and cohesive community that nurtures all aspects of our students' lives - not just academic.

It is because of an outstanding and dedicated staff - both teachers and administrators - that we are able to realize these goals.

Our teachers come to us with impressive academic records. 41% have Masters Degrees, 5% have their PhDs, and 95% are New York State certified. They are graduates of top schools, such as the NYU School of Education, Columbia Teacher's College, Harvard Law School, University of California at Berkeley, University of Chicago, Dartmouth University, Williams College, Brown University, Pratt School of Design, University of York (UK), Barnard College, Georgetown University, Colgate College, Adelphi University, and University of Pennsylvania.

We are proud of their commitment to the students and the school itself, and of an impressive and unusual staff retention rate of 95%.

100% of our teachers are deemed "highly qualified" by No Child Left Behind standards. Ms. Spampinato, the school principal is a New York State certified School District Administrator. Three other staff members are New York State certified School Administrators/Supervisors as well.

In addition to a highly qualified, dedicated, and passionate teaching staff, students benefit from the guidance of in-house support from youth development experts such as a social worker, a school psychologist, an Assistant Principal of Instruction, a Director of College Guidance, and a Director of Student Life.
