Drawing and Painting

Drawing & Painting expands on the foundation established in Studio Art. In this course, students work towards mastering drawing and painting techniques using a wide variety of mediums. (1.00 credit)

VA873T: DRAWING & PAINTING I:
Drawing (Prerequisite: Studio Art I & II) This course will cover various drawing techniques, exploring a wide range of media. This 12-week course will focus on drawing mediums including; pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, chalk pastel and oil pastel.

VA874T: DRAWING & PAINTING II:
Painting (Prerequisite: Drawing & Painting I) This course will cover various painting techniques. This 12 week course will focus on painting mediums including: dry to wet mediums using watercolor pencil and chalk pastel with water as well as watercolor and acrylic paint. Students will continue to refine their independent styles as they develop critiquing skills and informed judgments about art.

VA875T: DRAWING & PAINTING III:
Immersion and Portfolio Development (Prerequisite: Drawing & Painting I & II) This course will expand on students‘ fine art skills in their drawing and painting techniques. Students will continue to refine their independent styles as they develop critiquing skills and informed judgments about art. This 12 week course is designed to aid in the development of a student portfolio in art and to help prepare them for AP Studio Art and /or a college portfolio.
