About WCHS

Williamsburg Charter At A Glance

Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) is a community charter high school serving 963 students grades 9 through 12 in the greater Brooklyn community.

Open since 2004, WCHS is one of the oldest operating charter high schools in New York City. We are proud to announce that we recently received a five-year renewal from the New York State Education Department Board of Regents. This is the longest charter term a school can receive in New York.

Williamsburg Charter selects students through a lottery system. There is no tuition and there is no test to apply. Students are chosen at random with the following three preferences:

1) Sibling; 2) At-Risk; and 3) District 14.
