Preparing for College

Preparing for college can be very stressful, however there are ways to combat this stress and make it an enjoyable experience. Williamsburg Charter High School provides opportunities for potential and current students to graduate with College readiness in numerous ways. For example we offer AP, SUPA and College Now classes. We take pride in building relationships with our students in order to better assist them with their current and post secondary needs. Below you will find some helpful tips and things that you should do in order to facilitate your college going process.  All of the items listed will make your application personable. It will make you a well rounded student and increase your chances of getting into the school of your choice!

  • Pass your classes in High School since the cumulative average on your transcript is used as an entrance requirement
  • Take College Now classes so you can earn college credits for free
  • Take the SAT and ACT exams offered by the school
  • Write a compelling Personal Statement/Essay that will allow you to stand out from the rest of the students applying
  • Ask for 2 letters of recommendation from teachers, advisors, or your guidance counselor
  • Keep an eye out for internships/volunteer opportunities
  • Join a sports team or club
  • Do your research! Expose yourself to as many schools as you can via college fairs, visits, tours and word of mouth
